Open Awareness
Glen Svensson · 85 minutes
The last session of the day opens with a further guided observing of thoughts, then Glen Svensson sets out three levels of mind, the coarse mind, the substrate consciousness reached in shamatha, and pristine awareness. He works through the six prerequisites for shamatha training, quoting Tsongkhapa on a supportive place and Steve Jobs on remembering death. The closing practice is open awareness, widening to sensory as well as mental events, introduced with Viktor Frankl on the space between stimulus and response.
