Dwelling in the Heart of Reality

D5S2 - Created or Begotten

Lama Alan · Eva Natanya · 138 minutes · recorded January 1, 2020

Eva Natanya sets Julian of Norwich's parable of the lord and the servant beside the Dzogchen account of how samsara begins, and draws the Greek distinction between created and begotten. She then guides a practice in which we draw awareness into the heart with the Jesus prayer and a stillness that can never be moved. Lama Alan hands her what he calls a bouquet of roses with thorns: no Christian tradition allows ontological identity with God, only visionary union, and asks whether Jesus said that or his followers concluded it.
