The Meaning of the Path of Dharma
Part Two - The Bahiya Instruction, and How Much Jhana Is Needed
Lama Alan · 40 minutes
In the guided practice of twenty four minutes, built on the Buddha's very short instruction to the wandering ascetic Bahiya, we move the attention through the visual, auditory and tactile fields and then into the mind, so that in the seen there is only the seen. Lama Alan then reads the discourse itself and draws out the three marks, the enormous one being how often we look for happiness to what is no source of it. A question on jhana follows, the Indo-Tibetan tradition holding access to the first enough.
