Tashi Mannox
Master of Tibetan Calligraphy
Tashi Mannox is a British calligrapher and dharma artist, widely regarded as one of the foremost contemporary practitioners of Tibetan calligraphy. Raised in a Buddhist family, he took the precepts of a monk at twenty two and spent his monastic years working as a scribe, which is where his command of the classical Uchen script and the other Tibetan hands was formed. His teachers include Tai Situ Rinpoche and Akong Tulku Rinpoche. Since leaving monastic life he has worked on the preservation of the Tibetan writing systems, exhibited internationally, and taught master classes and lectures including at Oxford University and the Rubin Museum of Art in New York. He was invited to help re establish the Bhutanese calligraphy tradition, and was given the title Ambassador of Bhutanese Calligraphy.
