Judging and Trying to Fix Others

David Oromith · 27 minutes · recorded July 2, 2023

In the meditation we watch the mind with the eyes open, observing thoughts arise and pass like clouds in the sky or passers-by in the street, without following after them. David talks about our habit of judging others for not living as we think they should, and the difference between holding space for someone and trying to fix them. He tells the story of a mother at a retreat who realised that simply showing up and listening mattered more to her daughter than any amount of advice.
