S1 - The Mind Makes the Day, and Why We Fear Stillness

David Oromith · 79 minutes · recorded January 12, 2023

After introductions round the room, David leads a ten to fifteen minute guided settling practice, relaxing body, speech and mind, breath by breath. The talk that follows is on why the same day can feel bright or unbearable depending on the mind we bring to it, citing research that many would rather feel pain than be alone with their thoughts. A long discussion covers posture, technology before bed, anxious thoughts, and building a daily practice by listing fifty reasons why it is good for you.

Two guided meditations on the podcast follow on from this session: Settling Body, Speech and Mind in Their Natural States, and Guided Breathing Meditation for Relaxation.
