- Session One - What Attachment Is, and Where It Hides David Oromith · 72 minutes · recorded July 18, 2026
David separates attachment from genuine love, quoting Venerable Robina Courtin that attachment is I-based and love other-based, and that the two are stirred together like milk and water. He traces it to the feeling of not being enough: in being liked, in being right, and in the roles we hold on to, his own being the tech person on the ward until others arrived who could do it too. In the guided practice we set the two side by side for a loved one and a friend. It closes on the fear of abandonment underneath.
- Guided Meditation - Arousing Aspiration for Practice David Oromith · 18 minutes · recorded May 19, 2026
David asks why you joined the session tonight, and beneath that what draws you to practice at all, with time to sit rather than grab the most obvious answer. Then a moment when something on the path worked, and a person whose practice you admire or trust, on the thought that if they can do this then perhaps it is not beyond you. It closes looking forward, at what a calmed mind would change, with no shoulds and no pressure.
- Guided Meditation - Releasing a Resentment David Oromith · 14 minutes · recorded March 22, 2026
A resentment you are still carrying comes to mind, and the hurt of it is acknowledged first. David then turns to where that person's behaviour came from, their own pain and confusion, and to the difference between a person and their mental afflictions, without agreeing the action was okay. Hand on the belly or chest, the words are to the extent I am able, I release, I let go. It closes on deep breaths, released through the mouth.
- Guided Meditation - Forgiving Ourselves and Letting Go of the Past David Oromith · 16 minutes · recorded March 22, 2026
A piece of negative self-talk is brought to mind and held there. David shows the mind as a brilliant storyteller, building a whole identity from one thing you said or did, then shifts the ground from thinking the thought to noticing you are having it. Grace comes next, for being human, and the words to the extent I am able, I forgive myself, I release. It closes with a hand on the chest and wishes to be kind to yourself.
- Guided Meditation - What Anger Does, an Analytical Meditation David Oromith · 22 minutes · recorded February 11, 2026
A contemplation rather than a settling practice. Recalling an occasion when anger took over, you examine not the story but what the anger did to your tone, your face and your thinking, then what it left behind and what it cost. David asks what it promised and whether it delivered, has you imagine a steadier response, and closes with a determination.
- Guided Meditation - Precious Human Life, Motivation and Responsibility David Oromith · 21 minutes · recorded September 10, 2025
Tension drained away on the out breath, then a contemplation built around the Dalai Lama's words about a precious human life. You recall the freedom and leisure you have, and the kindness received from countless beings, and let that gratitude turn into responsibility and a determination held alongside joy. If it fades, go back to the contemplation.
- A Precious Human Life David Oromith · 29 minutes · recorded August 4, 2025
A contemplative meditation built on the Dalai Lama's reflection on waking gratefully to a precious human life. David talks about how rare and fleeting this human life is, one of the four thoughts that turn the mind in the Tibetan tradition, and why we keep postponing practice for a better moment when now is the only time we actually have.
- Guided Meditation - The Four Point Analysis of the Self David Oromith · 25 minutes · recorded March 19, 2025
David asks you to arouse the gut sense of I, the one that flares when you feel embarrassed or offended, then to test whether it can be found: first inside the body and mind, then separate from them. Neither option holds. You rest in the conclusion that the self is a workable label rather than a permanent essence, and dedicate the merit.
- Guided Meditation - This Precious Human Life David Oromith · 24 minutes · recorded January 22, 2025
David begins from Buddha nature, the clear mind said to be present in everyone and impossible to lose or damage, then works through how rarely the conditions to recognise it come together: a human birth at all, the time and the inclination to practise, teachers, books and people who support you. It ends in going for refuge and a resolve to use this life well.
- Guided Meditation - Recognising the Kindness of All Beings David Oromith · 23 minutes · recorded December 2, 2024
Beginning again from the recognition that every being has been your mother, we go through the kindness itself: the nine painstaking months carried, the night feeds, the bathing, the silly faces made just to raise a smile, the hands held through first steps, the words repeated until you could form them. Each stage is extended to all beings across countless lives. It closes on this life, and on the food, clothing and home that come from others' work.
- Guided Meditation - The Beginningless Continuum of Mind David Oromith · 23 minutes · recorded December 2, 2024
We turn attention to the thing we call mind, where nothing static can be found, only moment to moment processes, a thought arising one moment and passing the next. The continuum is traced back through birth to the first consciousness of a foetus, which must have had its own prior cause. Since the lives are countless, so are the mothers, and David asks you to see every being you meet as one of them.
- Part One - Destructive Emotions, and an Antidote for Each Ondy Willson · 103 minutes · recorded October 5, 2024
Spirituality with the religion stripped out, and emotions as the ground of ethics. The four opponent powers arrive by way of Atisha climbing down off his horse: take refuge, regret it, apply a remedy, resolve not to do it again. Then constructive and destructive emotions, a guided meditation that washes an anger out through the soles of the feet, and an antidote worked out for each: patience, empathy, forgiveness, gladness at another's good fortune.
- Guided Meditation - Looking for the Inherently Existing I David Oromith · 22 minutes · recorded June 11, 2024
The sense of I is picked out first: not the hands and not the thoughts, but the one who feels happy when praised and offended when insulted, central, fixed, standing apart. If it exists it should be findable, so the body is checked part by part, arm, leg, head, then the whole, then the mind, thought, feeling, memory, all of it changing. What turns up is only parts, causes and labels. It closes resting in whatever calm comes of that.
- Guided Meditation - Gratitude and Appreciation David Oromith · 21 minutes · recorded February 18, 2024
Gratitude is generated deliberately, first for the breath, then for the heartbeat, then for this human body and the unique mind without which there would be no experience. David quotes a teacher: as long as we are breathing, there is more right here than there is wrong. It widens to the room and its sounds, the home, hot water and a fridge, the people behind everything you own, and the planet. The last minutes are your own.
- Guided Meditation - Cultivating Generosity David Oromith · 21 minutes · recorded January 15, 2023
You sharpen the mind with twenty one rounds of breath, three lots of seven, and then its creativity is put to work. David asks for a picture of a typical day, where you go, the shops or errands, the people you meet, and for generosity imagined into it: something material, your time, your expertise, a kind word. Their response is imagined too, and the warmth of giving with nothing wanted back. It closes on an intention to carry that into ordinary days.
- Guided Meditation - Reflecting Back On The Year David Oromith · 20 minutes · recorded December 18, 2022
This is a guided meditation on reflecting on our growth in the last year. We often don’t notice the changes and growth we go through on a day-to-day basis, and it’s only when we stop and look where we were that we notice what has changed.
- Guided Meditation - Meeting a Difficulty with Inner Strength David Oromith · 22 minutes · recorded June 19, 2022
Stillness of the body, the gaze and awareness, held until the rhythmic sensations of breathing rise up to meet you, with a count at each exhale if engagement slips. A current difficulty is invited in: I want it to be different, but this is the way it is right now. David points out a hundred per cent success rate at getting through every challenge so far, calls it a superhero mindset, and has you sit a little taller.
- Guided Meditation - Working Through a Challenge or Question In Our Life David Oromith · 25 minutes · recorded September 16, 2021
This is a guided meditation pulled from our Sunday meditation class on September 12th. This meditation allows us to bring a difficult challenge, question or problem we have into our meditation practice. Quite often, the thinking mind tries to work its way through our problems and can obscure our natural intuition and creativity. This meditation is designed to bring clarity to those challenges which often need instead to be held in awareness.
- Guided Meditation - The Three Marks of Existence, from Recollection to Direct Inquiry Lama Alan · 13 minutes
Lama Alan begins with a review of your own past: times you held something fleeting as though it were durable, took a person or place to be the true source of your happiness, or grasped what is not yours as I and mine. You then turn to the space of the mind and put the same three questions to experience. Is anything here unchanging? Is any appearance a real well of happiness or suffering? Does anything carry the mark of I?
- Guided Meditation - Vipashyana, Searching for the Mind That Observes Lama Alan · 24 minutes
Lama Alan turns awareness back on itself and asks what the mind actually is. Having directed attention to the space of the body, you invert it and inspect whatever was doing the directing. Does the mind have a shape, a size, a colour, a location? Set it in motion when it is too still to see. You watch states of mind arise and dissolve, and close on the question: who or what are you?
